The Geelvinck Salon offers a platform for the authentic performance practice on historical instruments from the 18th and early 19th centuries.
The music palette stretches from the Baroque to the Romance, the core period of the museum. In addition, trips are made to other civilizations and music forms. Combinations with, for example, poetry, dance and theater are also presented. Several times a year a small-scale theater performance takes place: Geelvinck Theater.
In the Geelvinck Salon the tradition of the 18th and 19th century salon, like in Vienna, Paris but also Amsterdam, revives to meet in a pleasant atmosphere, for music, conversation and conviviality, uniting the useful with the pleasant. After the performance there is always opportunity for meeting the performers. By participating in the Geelvinck Salon, you also support the Geelvinck Restauration Fund, which is committed to keeping the historical instruments of the Sweelinck Collection playable.
